2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata (ND) Photoshoot in Kansas City

I’ve had my 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata (ND) for nearly eight months now, but until now, I haven’t taken it out for a proper photoshoot.

Rally in the 100 Acre Wood (2014)

FY Racing Subaru

FY Racing Subaru. 18mm f/10 1/200 ISO400.

In February I attended the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood in Salem, Missouri. I’m a huge motorsports fan, but this year was the first year I was able to get to Salem for the annual Rally America rally down there. The rally was an absolute blast (and totally free to attend!). I brought my camera along and shot some of the action.

A shot of AT&T Cowboys Stadium I took back in December during the Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys game in Dallas, Texas. Here’s how I created this photo.

MU Study Abroad Photo Contest Winner

Letna Hill: MU Photo Contest Winner

My photo, “Prague from Letna Hill”, was chosen as the “People’s Choice Award” winner in the 2013 MU International Center photo contest.

My favorite photo from my Prague study abroad experience last summer, Prague from Letna Hill, was chosen for the “People’s Choice Award” in the 2013 University of Missouri International Center photo contest. I entered this photo to the contest last semester, and it was selected out of hundreds of entries to make it into the select top 25 finalists. The top 25 were then put up for a public vote online. My photo won the vote!

Portrait Shoot: Jack

Jack

Headshot of Jack. 50mm f/2.8 1/100 ISO200. OCF: Speedlight. 2’x3′ Softbox. CL.

Jack needed some basic portrait shots for his social media profiles. Like Marissa and Tommy’s portrait shoots, we started at Peace Park in Columbia, MO. After gathering the standard outdoor pictures we moved to another location on the other end of the University of Missouri campus.

Warrensburg Air Show

Too Close

Two planes fly in close formation at the Warrensburg air show.

In September I had the opportunity to shoot an air show in Warrensburg, Missouri. The air show was a small community show put on by the University of Central Missouri. Because of the show’s small size I was able to get up close and personal to the performing aircraft. As an added bonus the weather cooperated this time, and I didn’t have to worry about heavy cloud cover complicating things like at last year’s Alliance Air Show in Dallas.

Portrait Shoot: Tommy

Tommy at the Mizzou Columns

Tommy in front of the Columns. 65mm f/4.5 1/100 ISO200. OCF: Speedlight, Shoot-through Umbrella, CR.

A few weeks back I did a short portrait shoot with Tommy, a good friend of mine. Tommy needed some decent head shots that he could use on his social media profiles. As with Marissa’s shoot we headed out to Peace Park in Columbia, Missouri for another simple single-speedlight portrait session.

Headshot of Marissa. 50mm f/2.8 1/60 ISO100. OCF: White Umbrella, Camera Right.

A few months back, I did a short photoshoot with Marissa in Peace Park in Columbia, Missouri. The goal of the shoot was to get Marissa some nice images and to test out some new off camera flash techniques for my portrait work.

Abroad in Prague: Week Four

Letna Park by night

Prague from Letna Park at night.

I spending the month of July in Prague, Czech Republic studying abroad. My goal is to write one of these a week for the month that I’m here, but if you want a better day-to-day look at our time in Prague, check out Claire’s blog. She’s way better about keeping up with blogging than I am.

If you just want to see all the pretty pictures I take on my trip, check out my Prague Flickr set.

My month-long adventure abroad has come to an end. My trip to the Czech Republic was an unbelievable experience. Not only did I get to live in and see a unique corner of the world and absorb it’s culture, but I also got valuable real-world experience and some incredible new friends to boot.

I’ve spent three weeks in Prague now, and I have loved every second of it. I refuse to come to grips with the fact that I have to leave this awesome city in just a few short days.
