Abroad in Prague: Week Two

Old Town Sunset

A nice view from the Old Town Square in Prague.

I’m spending the month of July in Prague, Czech Republic studying abroad. My goal is to write one of these a week for the month that I’m here, but if you want a better day-to-day look at our time in Prague, check out Claire’s blog. She’s way better about keeping up with blogging than I am.

If you just want to see all the pretty pictures I take on my trip, check out my Prague Flickr set.

Yesterday marked the halfway point in my adventure in Prague. It sounds cliché, but I honestly can’t believe our trip is halfway over. The past two weeks have absolutely flown by.

Today marks the end of my first week in Prague, Czech Republic as a part of the University of Missouri’s Strategic Communications department’s study abroad program. The program lasts four weeks and consists of an internship at McCann Erickson Prague and a culture course at Prague’s Charles University.

So far, the experience has been incredible.

My Work: ReAuthored iPad 3 Video

Reauthored YouTube Video

The iPad 3 Case video I produced for ReAuthored.

Last year I started an internship at a local business, ReAuthored. ReAuthored hand makes cases for digital devices, like iPads and Kindles, out of recycled hardback books. The owners of ReAuthored brought me on to assist them with digital marketing.

High Speed Water Droplet Photography on a Budget

Cylinder Splash

“Cylinder Splash” – One of the photos I took using my water droplet photography technique.

High-speed water droplet photography is a widely sought after photographic technique, and it is one that is surprisingly easy to accomplish, even on a budget. I attempted this technique as an experiment with my new Speedlite, and I was thrilled with the results.

Alliance Air Show 2012 Photography

F-18

An F-18 fighter jet making a high speed turn at the 2012 Alliance Air Show in Fort Worth, Texas.

In October I had the opportunity to see the Alliance Air Show in Fort Worth, Texas. The show had a number of great aircraft performers from various time periods, and featured the USAF Thunderbirds for the finale. I was excited to take my DSLR along to snag some photos of the show. Unfortunately, an unexpected cold front the night before created awful weather conditions for the show.

My First Attempt at Action Sports Photography

Photography has developed into a small hobby of mine since taking a multimedia journalism class at Mizzou. That class inspired me to purchase a Canon T2i DSLR for personal use. So far, I’ve loved it.
